A RICH HISTORY

Rich with History and southern charm, experience why The Market Common is Myrtle Beach’s favorite shopping, dining and lifestyle destination

Previously an Air Force Base during World War II, visiting the Market Common is a journey to the past and present. Explore tributes to the military while having the comfort of a modern mix of retail, restaurants and entertainment in a charming atmosphere.

Opened in April 2008, The Market Common in Myrtle Beach, led by retired Air Force colonel Buddy Styers, is a premier dining, shopping, and entertainment destination. Located in the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, closed in 1993, the transformation showcases one of the country’s top military base redevelopment projects. Though few original 1956 Air Force base structures remain, streets honor historical figures. Historical markers share stories of heroes, military buildings, and historical events. Military history tours, provided by a third party, offer in-depth insights.
